WPX Hosting Review
In this WPX Hosting review we will look at four key factors to the buyer's decision making process. This includes “Ease of use, Features, Pricing and Support”. So if you just want the quick overview of how WPX Hosting performs here it is for you.
This company ranks highly across all four key metrics with a combination of top quality server hardware and incredible support being its hallmarks. When we say incredible we do mean it and this is reflected in them being the highest rated host at G2Crowd. Most people who use them are really glad they did especially if they are just getting started with WordPress.
To further understand how we came to these numbers read the full review below.
Introducing WPX Hosting
WPX Hosting presents you one of those rare moments when the best product doesn't equate to steep pricing. In fact with WPX you can have each website hosted for as little as $5 per month. Let's look at their stand-out features.
In this WPX Hosting review we will answer a simple question, “Why WPX Hosting is one of the best WordPress Hosting options money can buy”. If that seems a bit biased at the start of a review it's for good reason which will become clear as you read this page,
We will also compare WPX to two of its main competitors being SiteGround and Cloudways.
And if you are looking to get the best deal on WPX Hosting, we will let you know what to expect in the way of WPX Hosting coupon codes.
What is WPX Hosting?
WPX Hosting provide WordPress focused hosting and domain registration services and are based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Now one disadvantage of WordPress has been that it can be clunky and slow compared to some other content management systems (CMS) and when you add a page builder like Beaver Builder or Elementor (which are essential for most WordPress websites) it can make matters worse.
Now at this point you might just assume that you should stay away from WordPress but the advantages to this free to use system are just too immense for such a simple conclusion.
What you need is a good website host and ideally one that can load your website pages in under 1 second. If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load you have lost a client – that is how brutal and unforgiving it is today in this instant gratification world we live in.
To prove the point about load times just look at this example from the founder of WPX Hosting – Terry Kyle for his personal website.
Notice the page size is a massive 7.3 megabytes but still loading in less than a second.
But as you may know, images can be easily optimized but WordPress plugins can be the real killer for site load times, so with that in mind our own website which is a heavily customized WordPress system with 39 plugins installed (many of which are large memory and CPU resource hogs) is an even better test.
Here is the result:
First thing you will notice is the lower performance grade because of all the plugins and scripts this website uses.
But also notice how even though Bootstrapps.com is a far more complex and customized site than Terry Kyle's personal blog that we have less server requests (49 compared to his 78). That is more than likely because he was not using the W3TC caching and Autooptimize plugins for his benchmark test.
These are the two plugins that WPX recommends for their server setups and using a premium caching plugin like WP Rocket is not necessary and will in fact be slower than the free W3TC in my own testing for Bootstrapps.com. (So an extra saving there for you if you were considering WP Rocket). Other website hosts will benefit from using WP Rocket though as it really is a superior plugin to W3TC.
Another exclusive feature is their WPX Cloud which is good news if you have a lot of high resolution images on your website as it will ensure they load fast for your users no matter where in the world they reside. This is a big reason for that 702ms result for Terry's website full of pictures of his dogs.
What exactly is it you ask?
You may have heard of a CDN (Content Delivery Network). This used to be the domain of only high traffic and well funded websites who needed their content delivered fast no matter how far the website user was from the server.
With WPX you don't need to go and buy a costly subscription to one as they built their own, fully optimized for WordPress and they give it to you as part of your hosting no matter if you are on the basic plan or Elite plan.
Great value for money considering you get this from $5 per month per website.

WPX Hosting Founder
As already mentioned Terry Kyle is the founder of WPX Hosting. Originally from Australia he now lives in Sofia, Bulgaria where he has setup offices for WPX Hosting and the support staff who are available 24/7 reside there.
Over the last 10 years, he has created many products and services like Backlinks Forum, Traffic Planet, Homepage Backlinks, Backlinks Hydra, SEO Masters Academy, SEO Traffic Hacks, Cloudboss Pro, Bluechip Backlinks, Wayback Rebuilder and Monster Truck SEO.
Before that, among other things, he worked as a copywriter and creative director in Sydney, Australia, for brands including Pepsi, McDonald’s, Thomas Cook, Commonwealth Bank, IBM, Kellogg’s, Panasonic and Coca-Cola.
How to use WPX Hosting?
The best advice on how to get started with WPX Hosting comes from their founder directly.
Apart from that the other thing to be aware of is that WPX doesn't use the more common CPanel website management platform but their own custom designed dashboard.
If you are used to CPanel you might initally have to get used to this but in all honesty you will quickly forget CPanel after using it. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when you login.
And this is what the website management screen looks like.
Another thing to know is that WPX offers staging websites but each time you set one up it uses one of your available website slots. On the basic Business Plan you are given 5 website slots so if you setup staging for one website you will only have 3 slots left and you have two websites with staging you will only have one website slot left.
In this entirely positive review for WPX Hosting this is the only one minor gripe with them compared to another worthy competitor Cloudways who don't use this same system for creating unlimited staging and WordPress installs from $10 per month.
It's the one reason we also recommend and use Cloudways ourselves because performance is almost as good as WPX but they give you more flexibility with your server.
WPX Hosting Pricing
Now that you know how good WPX Hosting is, the natural question is price and how it stacks up to the alternative WordPress hosts.
In terms of pricing you have three options.
$24.99 per month
$49.99 per month
$99 per month
WPX Hosting Alternatives
When it comes to a direct competitor for WPX Hosting there are two stand-outs being SiteGround and Cloudways.
SiteGround is a good option if you are on a budget and want to lock in the best rate for the next three years. After that three year period you should know if your website is a winner and you can move over to WPX because your SiteGround renewal will be almost the same price as WPX on their GrowBig plan ($19.95 p/m) and more than WPX if you go for the GoGeek plan ($34.95 p/m).
Now for Cloudways we have tremendous respect for them and they are a close second to WPX for the majority of users because of all the flexibility they give you when you run a server through them.
That being said the flexibility and power they give you is more suited to experienced webmasters because their support is not nearly as good as WPX Hosting. In fact they are now starting to charge $100 per month for their basic tier of support. For most people reading this, WPX will be the more pain free and enjoyable experience with faster front end performance.
However if you like to get stuck in, the benefits of Cloudways far outweigh the cons and as already mentioned we use it ourselves and love it.
So with all that said: Get started with WPX Hosting.
WPX Hosting Pros and Cons
Are there up-sells?
There is no up-sell with WPX hosting.
You choose your domain name or transfer your existing one and choose your hosting plan and with one-click you get WordPress installed.
In fact you don't even have to do that yourself but can fire up the live chat and get the WPX Hosting team to migrate your website or get WordPress installed by them for a brand new website.
Do we recommend WPX Hosting?
The highest recommendation we can make for WPX is by saying that we have used it in the past ourselves! It is simply one of the best dedicated WordPress hosting companies on the planet right now.
Not only that but the support you get from the live chat and ticketing system is second to none and the amount of times they got us out of a pickle more than paid for the small monthly fee charged.
All that being said the only reason we moved away from them is that we noticed our backend was getting slow as our website grew so moved to Cloudways who had an option called Redis Object cache which caches the backend experience making it run a lot smoother.
If WPX Hosting implemented a similar feature we would easily recommend this hosting over Cloudways again but for now its an equal split between them.
If you don't have a large website with a lot of backend bloat you are going to get a lot more value for your money with WPX over Cloudways whose support is literally terrible compared to WPX.
But if you have a more complex website with a lot of moving parts then the Cloudways infrasturcture is currently better but that may not be the case for much longer as it would be impossible for WPX to ignore Redis object cache for too much longer.
So with all that said if that sounds like a good fit for you then get started with WPX Hosting.
Is there a WPX Hosting coupon code?
