Introducing Brain.fm

In this Brain.fm review we will be looking specifically at the claims the app founders make about how it can boost productivity, focus and even sleep.
We will also compare Brain.fm to some of it’s direct competitors.
And if you are looking to get the best deal on Brain.fm, we will let you know what to expect in the way of Brain.fm coupon codes.
What is Brain.fm?
Brain.fm is a radio station for your brain.
Specifically this app was developed by scientists first and musicians second to create a type of music unlike any other and that impacts your brain unlike anything else you have ever heard before.
Sounds intriguing I know and the good news is you can try your first 5 sessions for free and in fact I encourage you to do so now whilst reading this review and see if it gets you to focus till the end 🙂
And once you login you will see this screen and just choose what you want to do and the music starts playing. But one thing to keep in mind is that this music is recommended with headphones and earphones and not speakers so have those ready before pressing play it makes a world of difference.

How to use Brain.fm?
There really is nothing to using Brain.fm after logging in and choosing your category of music in the form of focus, meditation or sleep you will see the following screen.

At the bottom you have your player controls including options for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hour work/meditation sessions. There is also an infinity option to keep the music rolling on indefinitely. But it's quite a good habit to choose your time and when the music stops you know it's time to have a coffee break.
At the top of this player interface you will see the “More Option” button which looks like this.

You will definitely notice the music is definitely more skewed towards the focus category with one extra focus option cut off above called Wind Focus.
When clicking the Learn button you will be presented with a number of resources about all the science and white papers the founders and team have done into this app which will probably make you feel quite smug that you have made a wise investment into yourself. But in all honesty the proof is in the pudding and after you complete your first work session using Brain.fm I don't think any more “science” is going to be needed to convince you of the effect.
The final option is simply your account information including billing where you can opt-in for the annual pricing if you haven't already which represents the best value.
We also have a coupon code for Brain.fm to save a further 20% which you can find details for in this section of the review.
Brain.fm Pricing
Now that you know how good Brain.fm is, the natural question is price and how it stacks up to the alternative music and focus tools.
In terms of pricing its really simple and the only choice you have is whether you want to pay monthly or save by paying a year upfront.
$6.99 per month
- Unlimited access to Brain.fm for a month
$49.99 per year
- Unlimited access to Brain.fm for 12 months
Brain.fm Alternatives
The biggest competitor to Brain.fm has to be Spotify. There are so many tracks uploaded to Spotify which will also have some type of effect on mood and performance. Many of us use upbeat electronic music when wanting to get more stuff done but Brain.fm contests that their music will have a more dramatic impact on brain stimulus as shown in the “lit up” red brain graphic below.

On the subject of alternatives there is another notable app called Focus@will which is essentially the exact same thing as Brain.fm but costs more at $9.95 per month vs $6.95.
Both companies claim clinical research and studies into their apps so it really does come down to preference of music style and price between these two apps.
One notable benefit of Focus@Will however is that they give you two weeks of listening for free! Listen to them and compare to Brain.fm yourself.

Conclusion
Do we recommend Brain.fm?
If you are someone who needs more focus in your work day then 100% yes. Within 10 minutes of listening to this brain music you will find yourself firing on so many more cylinders and just getting more stuff done. I also like how this ties in nicely if you are one of those “Pomodoro technique” people with the ability to set either a 30 minutes or 1 hour Pomodoro.
2 Hours for a Pomodoro is just too long!
Don't believe it works? Well go try it for yourself with the first 5 sessions free.
